How often have you been given suspicious looks after telling your loved ones that you are going to start afresh career-wise??

I am an Economics post graduate. I didn’t want to go into that line because there was a gap in my career timeline (Ex- Housewife). I wanted to do something which I would enjoy (although building your career from scratch isn’t enjoyable by the sound of it). When my friends and acquaintances asked about what I would be doing, they all got shell shocked after hearing this. I was told that it was a wrong move. I should be building my career as an Economist.

Did I listen to them?

No I certainly did not.

As a child, you are told to follow rules and be disciplined. Go to school, do homework, be self-reliant, be good to people, later go to college, finish your degrees, find a job, get married, so on and so forth. But how often do you get a chance to challenge this routine?

Living your life how others want you to is like wearing your elder sibling shoes, might fit you perfectly if the size fits but those are not per your choice. Those are given to you with the expectation that you would keep them in finest condition even more so which is practically unachievable.

All these years I wasn’t living my life on my terms, I was living a vague idea of others how it should be! How they have lived theirs’ all this while. As soon as I got an opportunity I latched onto it like a monkey latches on a tree branch and didn’t leave it.

It was time to begin anew…

However I experienced, when you are on this path of building something new, intruders will come your way and would try to take your mind off of your goal.

In my life, too many came but I was determined to follow this path giving a blind eye to these intruders. They would want to distract you by asking to meet them over the weekend, by their annoying habit to poke in your personal life, expecting that you talk to them every day, and so on…

The only thing you need to know is that their idea of fun cannot and should not necessarily be yours. You may want to sit at home peacefully and read a book while sipping a coffee or maybe watch a good web series on Netflix.  I’d gladly say that you do your thing. You are not liable to please them or give them any sort of explanation (as I didn’t).

So all of you out there who have currently chosen your path of success as I have, kudos to you.

All I can say in the end is focus on your definition of Success and Life.

You are beautiful in your way as I am… 🙂

PS: If all of my readers out there were wondering why I haven’t posted any sooner, where was I? I was going through something personally health-wise but thanks to my loving family and dedicated doctors I am now all hale and hearty.

I would love to hear your stories. Please share your thoughts and feelings in the comment section below.

Thank you very much for your presence here 🙂

A lot more thoughts and words are on their way and you shall read them soon.

What happened to you health-wise? Was it a fever or what exactly? Please look after yourself. Season’s changing.
And you’re indeed right. Do what you want. But the knowledge that you’ve, you should put that to use too. Take care!

  2. Go-getters create their own path and they are not the ones who follow others. I guess you are still early in starting career early, I know many who either started in the late 40’s or never had one at all. Wishing you all the very best in all your endeavors. Only you can define your success and let it be that way. Great post, inspiration to many. Thanks for sharing 🙂
